What the app stores, and where

Everything Mass Scan produces is written to the app's private folder on your device: the page images, the searchable PDFs, the recognised text and your settings. This data is included in your iCloud or Finder device backup, under your own Apple Account. Deleting the app deletes all of it.

Camera and photo library

• Camera. Used only while you are scanning, to photograph the page in front of you. Frames are never streamed anywhere; the captured page is written straight to the app's folder.
• Photo library. Only used if you choose “Import from photos”, and only for the images you pick. If you save a finished scan back to your library, that is the only time the app writes to it.

You can withdraw either permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.

Text recognition

Text recognition runs entirely on your device using Apple's built-in Vision framework. No page image and no recognised text is uploaded for processing. The app does not use any cloud OCR service.

Google Drive sync (optional, off by default)

Mass Scan is fully usable without a Google account. If you choose to connect Google Drive in Settings, the following applies:

• Sign-in happens in Apple's secure web sign-in sheet. The app never sees your Google password.
• The resulting access and refresh tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device only. They are not transmitted to Codext GmbH or anyone else.
• By default the app requests the drive.file scope, which grants access only to files the app itself creates. It creates its own folder and cannot read the rest of your Drive. The broader drive scope is requested only if you explicitly pick “Connect with access to existing folders”.
• Your PDFs are uploaded directly from your device to your own Google Drive account. They do not pass through any server operated by Codext GmbH.
• Disconnecting Drive in Settings deletes the stored tokens from your device. Files already uploaded remain in your Drive, where only you control them.

What happens to data once it is in your Google Drive is governed by Google's privacy policy and your own Google account settings.

Sharing and exporting

When you share a letter or a zip of several letters, iOS's own share sheet hands the file to whichever app or service you pick. From that point the receiving app's privacy policy applies. Mass Scan is not involved in the transfer.

What the app does not do

• No analytics, telemetry or crash reporting SDKs.
• No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
• No tracking, no profiling, and no data shared with third parties or data brokers.
• No account with Codext GmbH, and no sign-up of any kind.

Children

Mass Scan is a general-purpose document tool. It collects no data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because Codext GmbH holds no data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or erase in response to a GDPR request. You control the data on your device directly: delete individual letters in the app, or delete the app to remove everything. Files you uploaded to your own Google Drive are managed by you in Drive.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
