Mass Scan turns a stack of paper post into searchable PDFs as fast as you can turn the pages. Point the camera at a letter, the pages capture themselves, tap Save, and the next letter starts immediately. Cropping, clean-up, text recognition and PDF building all happen in the background, so nothing ever makes you wait between letters.
Open the Scan tab and hold the phone over the first page. The camera finds the edges and shutters on its own, then you turn to the next page. When the letter is finished, tap Save — the camera reopens straight away for the next letter.
On your iPhone, in the app's own folder. They are included in your iCloud or Finder device backup. If you connect Google Drive, a copy is also uploaded to your Drive.
No. Mass Scan is fully usable without one — letters stay on the phone and you can select several at once and share them as a single zip file. Google Drive sync is optional.
Go to Settings → Connect Google Drive and sign in with your Google account. By default the app asks only for permission to the files it creates itself, so it makes its own folder and can never see the rest of your Drive. If you would rather have the letters land in a folder that already exists, use “Connect with access to existing folders”.
Uploads run in the background and retry on their own, backing off gradually for up to twelve attempts. A letter that has used up its retries shows a Failed badge in the Library — open it and tap Retry upload. Check that you are online and that the Drive account is still connected in Settings.
Yes. Text recognition runs on the device and adds an invisible text layer over the page image, so you can search and select text in the PDF in any reader, while the page still looks exactly like a scan.
English and German are on by default. You can change the set under Settings → OCR languages.
Open the letter, tap Edit, then rotate the page or drag the crop corners. The PDF is rebuilt from the original capture, so quality never degrades no matter how often you adjust it.
Swipe a letter in the Library to delete it. This removes it from your iPhone only — anything already uploaded stays in your Google Drive, where you can delete it yourself.
iPhone or iPad running iOS 16.4 or later.
Mass Scan collects nothing. Your scans stay on your device unless you connect your own Google Drive. See the privacy policy for the details.
